How often have you found yourself feeling like the thing you are working on is to hard, too much, too overwhelming and you begin to think about quitting, or you decide to quit?
OR
You tell yourself to knock it off and get over it and keep going, and that pushing through builds character and will make you a better stronger person?
May I invite you to consider a third option? Pausing.
It’s like watching a movie, and you decide you’ve got to get up and get a snack. You won’t lose any of the progress you’ve made on the movie, and the rest of the movie isn’t going anywhere but you are pausing, to get a snack, go the bathroom, coming back when you are refreshed and ready to get back to it. You won’t wait to long because you’ll begin forgetting about what happened, you won’t rush back to soon because you don’t want to have to pause again in a few minutes to go do something else.
Next time you feel like quitting, or are badgering yourself to “JUST” get over it and get on with it, consider taking a pause, catch your breathe, and come back refreshed or at the very least a little less resistant.
