Instead of asking why ask for what reason and I choosing to ______________. When you ask why you become defensive, asking for what reason opens the mind to coming up with solid (or not so solid) reasons for your choice.
Understanding what may or may not happen is important to think about. Come up with as many possibilities as you can. This will be helpful with making a pros and cons list, and processing not only the short term impact of your decision but the long term impact.
Invest time to prepare for what will happen after you make your decision. Sometimes the decisions may be right, but it doesn’t mean the transition will be easy. Prepare for how you will handle what may happen as you move forward.
Take action. Once you’ve made your decision and have taken the time to prepare for it, commit and go!
